Wellesley Island Market and Wellesley Island Wine & Spirits previously known as the Fineview Mini Mart will be opening their doors this spring. The Market will offer a variety of groceries and general merchandise including locally made products such as cheeses, coffees, and St. Lawrence River-themed gift items that showcase the talents of other businesses in the area. Pizza, subs, and sandwiches will be made to order in the newly renovated kitchen, and don’t forget the Ice Cream Window with the many varieties of Hershey’s Ice Cream that will be available.
The retail fueling facility has also been completely re-constructed. Provisions will also be made to include electric vehicle charging stations in the future. Wellesley Island Wine & Spirits will offer a selection of fine wines and liquors and an online pre-order pickup service for quick, convenient shopping.
John Durand, owner of Wellesley Island Building Supply, loved Wellesley Island and valued the friendships he made with the people who resided here. He talked with his brothers, and they agreed that the River community and seasonal visitors needed these retail services, which had not been available for a number of years. Sadly, in 2021, we lost John, the family mentor and trail boss. However, the family decided to continue his vision and purchased the property in the spring of 2022. The renovations should be completed by the end of March, with an anticipated opening of early May 2023.
